This exchange made my week. I received a message last night from someone who has read my blog (ramblingrach.com) for years. She’s treating herself to a #solotrip and asked where I shop online because she wanted something “Rachael inspired.”

“I know this is totally random – but do you have an online clothing store you love? I’m taking a completely solo trip to Las Vegas and need something fun for a night out to dinner by myself and since I’m going totally brave, I was thinking a Rachael inspired outfit!”
Week made!
I was so flattered! It’s been a rough stretch for me. I’m struggling in multiple ways. And in true Rambling Rach fashion, I was honest about that.
“Aww! Thank you! I have been in a pit of depression and haven’t put on anything fun in forever. You made my week and maybe inspired me to put on something! I really like Eloquii!”
Wow!
She went on to say that watching me be brave over the past couple of years inspired her to prioritize her own mental health and book this trip for herself.
“Aww! Well likewise! I never would have thought about taking a solo trip but my mental health needs it and I’ve watched you and some other brave women go out and do brave things in the past few years and so I thought it was time for me.”
Life is messy
It’s been 3 years since I blew up my world, leaving a toxic relationship I’d been in for my entire adult life. I’ve been trying to figure out who I am as an individual after focusing on being a wife and mother for so long, getting to know myself, finding solid footing, thinking about what I want my life to look like, and dealing with a ton of repressed trauma.
It’s been hard and messy.
Life is hard and messy. And I’m starting to come to terms with that’s okay.
I’ve been struggling with some really heavy depression for the past six months. I often feel like a fraud when people tell me I’m brave or they are inspired by my story. But if my stories – good, bad, and messy – help other people take steps to prioritize themselves, I’ll keep rambling.
Expect to start hearing more from me again.
The answer is sequins
And my answer to a solo Las Vegas trip would be sequins. Lots of sequins.
And probably some leopard print.
