Wanna join me as I recycle period pads and collect girly dresses? I promise, it’s not as gross as it sounds!
Summer is here! I love wearing lightweight maxi dresses. Throw one on and done! Easy peasy. Plus, I like ’em long so I can skip leg shaving without being being self conscious (though I often don’t care either way).
eShatki has some of my favorite dresses. They have great sales prices, too.
Unfortunately, I’ve had some LBL issues. That’s “light bladder leakage.” I don’t want tinkle running down my legs in my cute summer dresses! And I know I’m not alone – 1 in 3 women experience LBL.
That’s why I’m thankful for Poise Thin-Shape pads. They are made specifically for LBL. They are thinner and more flexible than regular maxi pads that are used for periods. They are the perfect protection under summer maxi dresses. They are 40% thinner than period pads and 3X more absorbent! Get your free Poise samples!
So what do you do with all those period pads you’ve been using in case of light bladder leakage? Well, it’s time to #RecycleYourPeriodPad ! Here are two ideas!
#RecycleYourPeriodPad for cleaning.
My 14-year-old wanted purple hair, which meant dye got on the counter. No worries! I squirted hand sanitizer on a pad and it wiped right up!
#RecycleYourPeriodPad to make an eye mask!
Peel the backing off two pads and stick them together. Cut off the wings, if they have them. Tie the wrappers together to make a strap. Use a hole punch to make holes to attach the strap. Add some essential oil and relax with your new DIY eye mask.
What causes LBL?
Well, there are tons of different reasons people experience light bladder leakage, but some include:
- Physical changes from childbirth, pregnancy, hysterectomy or menopause
- Being overweight
- Complications from surgery, stroke, or chronic diseases like diabetes, multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson’s disease
- Bladder or urinary tract infections
- Bladder irritants (certain foods and beverages)
- Everyday triggers like coughing, sneezing and laughing

I learned that you can reduce leaks by exercising right.
i learned not to use period pads for bladder leakage
You are completely nuts, Rachel!!!!!!
I learned that Poise pads aren’t like what my grandparents used. I had a pretty negative opinion of them before, but not any more.
I don’t think I could bring myself to recycle them. Its a great idea, but don’t think I could bring myself to do it!
I learned that a third of women experience LBL and that being overweight can play a role in causing it. I don’t think I would… recycle my period pads. Loved watching you do it though!
My 17 yr old is always making a mess with hair color. I will definitely try hand sanitizer next time. Thx for the tip
One time my son “recycled” pads as stickers!
I learned they offer an Ultra Thin Pad!
I haven’t had to use period pads for about 15 years. Not interested in recycling them.
Thanks for the contest.
1 in 3 of women experiences Light Bladder Leakage
Well after reading more about poise my opinion is not so bad anymore but no way am I recycling pads lol .
I learned that these are not the same poise pads my mom, and grandma would have used. I like that you can recycle them and use them for multi use.
I have made a blindfold when I didn’t have anything else the same way you made the eye mask! Worked well and was hilarious
I learned that foods (such as caffeine or tomato products) can trigger LBL.
I didn’t know that pregnancy or childbirth could cause it.
Well, here’s a story. I asked my fiance to get me some pads for my period. He came home with these Poise pads! LOL I was like, Bladder Leakage pads? I tried them and they actually work for the time of the month. So if there is a sale with coupons, go for it! PS Have you ever seen those the pad slippers? Those are funny.
I would recycle them by using them to dust and clean my car.
i would clean the bathroom floor
I can’t believe this was possible to recycle but these ideas are crazy and I don’t think I would wear them but use it as a wipe for my makeup vanity.
I learn that Poise thin shaped pads are made specifically for LBL.
I learned that Poise pads and liners are specifically designed for LBL.
I learned poise pads aren’t the same as period pads and I just don’t think I could repurpose them.
I would recycle them by sticking them to the bottom of my feet and mopping up messes on my floor! Haha! Sticking them on the palm of my hand and cleaning the morning dew off my car windows. Putting them inside my shoes to keep my feet dry! I’m having too much fun with this question! 😉
Since having my children, I do experience some LBL at times when I cough or sneeze, so I would like to try these as they aren’t at all like what my grandma used!
I’m not sure if my twitter link went through: https://twitter.com/the2ndthought/status/615912384897662977
I also am unsure if I would be able to use a pad for anything afterwards, but I would definitely be open to using some that were more earth friendly to recycle that way.
I have to agree with what someone else already stated, I have always kind of had a mad impression of Poise but realize now that they are for all types of people and different uses.
Why not just write “gross” on that crafted eye pillow you made there?
Rather than posting all these ways to cover up your pee problems, go see a doctor to properly dx you and treat the causes of your bladder leakage.
