I have a new favorite beverage: lemon blackberry infused water.
Oh, it is so YUM!
I remembered my daughter got me a six-pack of Perrier (“Momma’s treat water’) for Christmas the other day. It wasn’t cold and I don’t really like it over ice (not sure what that’s about). I spied some frozen blackberries in the freezer so I threw those in my cup and filled it up with Perrier.
Then I added some fresh lemon, since I happened to have some available.
Fancy schmancy, right?
I thought so.
But before I could take a sip, my sweet daughter walked through the kitchen and stole it.
Yup, she likes Perrier, too.
I let her get away with it and made myself another glass.
It was delicious – even taking away some of the pain sitting with my husband and daughter while they watched “Space Balls”…again.
When I was finished sipping it, I ate the blackberries and then made another!
But this time I used flat water, straight from the tap.
The frozen blackberries cooled it down quickly.
And I found I actually preferred it with the flat water instead of the bubbly.
We all know water is really important for our bodies. The Mayo Clinic recommends at least eight glasses a day for proper hydration.
This is easy for me to do because I am a water drinker. In fact, it’s rare I drink anything else, even at restaurants.
But that wasn’t always the case. I had to get myself into the habit of reaching for water instead of soda, tea, juice, lemonade, etc.
Now I prefer water.
But, for a change of pace, I prefer fruit infused water even more!
If you aren’t a water love, try adding some fresh fruit to a pitcher of it and keeping it in the fridge.
Here are some ideas:
- Lemon
- Orange
- Lime
- Cucumber
- Fresh mint
- Strawberry
- Blueberry
- Watermelon
- And any other fruit you like!
Try a combination of a couple fruits. A hotel I was at a few months ago had watermelon mint infused water in the lobby. It was delicious!
The lemon blackberry infused water is also especially good. I’ve been making fresh batches all week.
