Chunky Cinco de Mayo Avocado Salad

Crisp Kitchen Tools sent me some cool gadgets to try out.  Crisp’s new collection of kitchen tools are developed by award-winning housewares designers and fit your hand so well, it’s like they were designed expressly for you. Contoured handles, angled blades, and above-and-beyond features give you the confidence and inspiration to take your cooking further. The inventive collection of 27 kitchen tools is available in five colors, each chosen to match real fruits and vegetables. Each item in the collection is dishwasher safe and affordably priced from $5.99 to $19.99.

I put them to use to whip up a chunky avocado salad in anticipation of Cinco de Mayo.

We actually eat avocados all the time.  It’s just more fun to say it’s for Cinco de Mayo.

Don’t the tools look cool spread out like that?  It makes me feel fancy having these in my drawer – and they all have protective covers to protect both the blades and clumsy fingers reaching in to grab a tool.

That’s the herb mincer, zester, wavy knife and avocado tool.  Using them made my salad come together quickly and easily – and look more appetizing than my usual preparation methods, which includes simply squeezing the avocado out of the skin into a pile of mush.
