7 Ways to Celebrate Friendship During the Holiday Season

I love to celebrate friendship.  My friends have helped me get through some really tough times while I’ve been on this healing journey following my divorce. Life gets hectic during the holiday season, but here are some easy and meaningful ways to show your friends you love and appreciate them.

Donate in their name.

Donating to a cause important to your friend is a great way to show you care.  It’s meaningful, can occur in any dollar amount and is quick and easy to do. Most organizations are set up to take online donations.

Organize a soup swap.

Sure, cookie swaps are fun and popular, but most of us have plenty of sugary goodies at our fingertips during the holidays.  But a meal we can just quickly reheat for our families while we’re rushing around?  That’s useful!  Have everyone bring a big pot of homemade soup instead of cookies.  The soups can be divided into small reusable containers and then put in freezers until ready to use.

Host a brunch.

Evenings quickly get filled up with kid’s recitals, work parties and family gatherings.  A weekend morning brunch is a great alternative to get the gang together before the hustle and bustle of shopping, errands and activities take over the day.  Make the arrangements at a favorite restaurant or invite everyone over to your house and whip up this yummy pimento cheese quiche.

Send out cards or invites in the mail.

Not a text, Facebook invite or email.  Snail mail.   Getting something personal in the mail is rare and special these days.

I’m loving Basic Invite.  They have a huge amount of color options and allows you to customize the colors of almost every element of your happy holiday cards.  It allows instant previews so you can keep adjusting until you get the color combo you love.  There are also dozens of envelope colors to choose.  Flat or raised foil designs are also available in silver, gold and super popular rose gold.

You can even order a printed sample of your cards or Christmas party invitation to make sure it’s exactly what you want before committing.  Basic Invite offers an address capturing service to allow you to request addresses of friends and family through social media.  And the best part?  They’re offering a 15% discount to Rambling Rach readers with coupon code 15FF51.

My favorite features photo booth style strips.  Isn’t it so cute?  You can customize it with photos from your 2019 adventures.

Promote their business.

Recommend your friend’s bakery to make cupcakes for the office holiday luncheon.  Post the adorable Christmas ornaments available at your pal’s shop.  Supporting your someone’s business is a great way to show you care.  If people need products and services during the holidays, why not send them to your friends?

Step in to help.

A helping hand is appreciated by most everyone year round, but especially at the holidays.  Don’t ask how you can help.  Give specifics instead.

“I’m going to babysit your kids so you can have some downtime.  What day works best for you?”

“I know you love Christmas lights, but haven’t had time to put them up yet.  I’m going to come do it this weekend.”

“You’ve said you hate wrapping gifts.  I enjoy it and would love to wrap yours, too.”

Just call (to say, “I love you”)

So simple and so meaningful.

Friendships are special.  The holidays are a great time to take a few minutes to celebrate friendship.  What do you and your squad do for the holidays?
